Kim Cattrall’s slam reportedly ‘devastating’ for Sarah Jessica Parker
Sex and the City fans aren’t the only ones upset by the ongoing drama.
While Sarah Jessica Parker has yet to publicly respond to Kim Cattrall calling her “cruel” in a recent social media attack, Us Weekly reports that she is likely to be hurt by the slam.
“This will be absolutely devastating to her,” a source close to Parker told the magazine on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. “She really is one of the nicest people in show business. Not sure why Kim had to take it to this level.”
Molly Shannon echoed part of the insider’s comments during New York Fashion Week this weekend. While she admitted to Entertainment Tonight that she “didn’t read about [Cattrall’s post],” the actress went on to gush about her Divorce co-star.
“I know for me, Sarah is just so supportive and so wonderful and we just get along so well,” Shannon said. “It doesn’t really feel like work because we have so much in common, and she loves funny women and is just so genuinely supportive and kind, and like a ‘girls’ girl.’ So, I just feel lucky that I get to work with her.”
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Cattrall, 61, lashed out at Parker, 52, on Instagram Saturday morning. Earlier in the week, Parker had offered support to her former SATC co-star after Cattrall’s brother, Chris, was found dead in Lacombe, Alberta.
“My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?'” Cattrall wrote, captioning a text-post which read, “I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.”
“Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now,” she added in her post, which linked to an October 2017 New York Post piece about the “mean-girls culture that destroyed” their show. “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”
The former co-stars’ rumored feud was reignited in September 2017 after Parker confirmed that plans for the third SATC movie had been scrapped. At the time, speculation circulated that Cattrall’s demands, which were shot down by producers, ultimately led to the project’s cancellation. According to Page Six, things escalated after Cattrall insisted she never wanted to make the third installment in the first place and that she and Parker “were never friends.” Parker later revealed she was “just heartbroken” over it.
